Spring

Emerge after the depths of winter and uncover some of the wildlife beginning to appear amongst the woodland floor. Walks and cycle trails offer a chance to see bluebells, gorse or wood anemones as well as personal foraging for nettles and wild garlic. Visit wildlife parks with the little ones to meet some of the animals up close, stroll through topiary gardens or paddle along the Beaulieu River as the days get warmer and brighter. Then return to Stanwell House for a cosy meal and a restful night’s sleep.

Summer

Birds chirping, rivers running and the sun beaming through the trees, summer is in full swing. Enjoy picnics and outdoor activities with the whole family. Discover a new skill of paddleboarding, kayaking, sailing or wakeboarding across the water or even along the coast. Spot five species of deer or visit the deer sanctuary, or find dandelions and elderflower for homemade syrups and cordials. Autumn

Feel the leaves underfoot, collect conkers, blackberries and pinecones whilst spotting some of the many mushroom species hidden amongst the grove. As the sun still shines bright but the temperature begins to drop, explore the New Forest amongst the auburn coloured leaves. Head out for a peaceful walk, and you may spot pannage pigs roaming freely, foraging for nuts and acorns. For animal lovers, riding horses across the heath could also be of interest, as well as watching them run wild. Maybe start the day with a cooked breakfast to set you up for the cooler weather, and then head out from the convenience of your own room.

Nestled on the high street, our front entrance steps lead onto the pathway with separate access to the Salt Bar. We have allocated parking for guests and are just a short walk from the train station, perfect for those coming from afar.

Our hotel is located on the southern edge of the New Forest National Park. Within minutes, you could be walking among healthland and woodland with just a short drive, walk or on a cycle trail.
